HELPING HANDS

HOMEBOUND North Shore seniors can now achieve more independence with the introduction of a new service.
Outings For Seniors organises affordable journeys for elderly people who might otherwise be immobile and dependent on friends and relatives.
Lane Cove resident Susan Davies set up the service after years of working as an administrator in a Roseville aged care facility.
“There are a lot of people out there who love the idea of getting out for lunch or coffee,” she said. “Others are reliant on taxis for a doctor or hospital appointment. I accompany them and offer peace of mind, because they know they’re with someone who cares.”
Ms Davies accompanies seniors on solo outings of their choice, or to visit friends and family. She organises holiday itineraries and bookings and can accompany seniors on part or all of their interstate or overseas holiday.
“I tend to build up a rapport with clients and go back to the same people again and again,” she said. “This isn’t an agency. They ring me and get me. No outing is too small.”
Ms Davies said she has first aid training, insurance and a wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
